Berlin, 2007: my first zoo! I had always been against zoo, finding them cruel because of the small cages and people spending all day pointing at the animals. But I was draged along by a friend who told me Berlin Zoo was one of the worlds best, at the time, so I went along and was pleasently surprised to find that most of the enclosures were quite big and all the animals were healthy and well looked after. It was also intersting for me as a big cat fanatic because I had never really seen a lion or tiger in real life. I think that these zoological parks are good for educational purposes: Berlin Zoo offers a "petting farm" were children can feed the animals and interact with them, and when the animals need some alone time, they can escape to their "island" where no human is allowed to go.
